THE STORY OF THE
MOREL EXECUTIVE SUITES

more than a short term rental

Morel Executive Suites opened its doors in December 2017.

The 100-year-old building was a real money pit so my wife and I had considered tearing it down. It was a real struggle to make that choice and we couldn’t bring ourselves to do it, so we decided to draw up a business plan and look for alternatives. Short terms rentals seemed to fit ours needs, so we started with one suite (#4) to give us an idea as to the viability of the project.

After a few months and lots of positive feedback from our guests, we decided to transform the whole house. We opened the other four suites in July 2018 and two more in the building next door (55 Emmerson) in May 2019. Over the next few years we used up every square foot available to add more offerings. Morel Executive Suites now boasts 11 of the best darn places to stay in the area. Although, the remodel took longer and cost more than planned, we are still proud to have saved the century old house.

The name Morel comes from the family who built the place in 1918. My father had bought the house in the 1980’s from one of the Morel sisters who had been born and raised at 51 Emmerson St. We have referred to it as "chez Morel" ever since.
